Located at 16 E 55th Street in Midtown Manhattan, Anton Kern Gallery opened its new gallery space in April 2017.
Designed by studioMDA, the gallery which occupies a converted 18th-century 6-story townhouse totaling 12,000 sq. ft., is home to over 5,650 sq. ft. of exhibition spaces spread across the first 3 levels. The ground floor includes a 22‘ high space overlooked by the 2nd floor exhibition space. The other levels house an additional 6,350 sq. ft. of offices, private viewing rooms, art handling spaces as well as an artist studio.
The facade, wooden beams and staircase of the 1930’s townhouse have been preserved, embracing the original architectural character of the period and transforming it into a modern gallery.
