Rooftops and terraces often go unused, so converting them into gardens helps make the most of available space, especially in densely populated areas.
Terrace gardens help reduce the urban heat island effect by absorbing heat and providing natural insulation for the building. They also improve air quality by capturing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. Ensure that the building's structure is capable of supporting the weight of the garden, plants, soil, and any additional structures like containers or raised beds.

Assess the amount of sunlight and wind exposure on the rooftop to determine the types of plants that can thrive in those conditions. Consider using windbreaks or shade structures, if necessary.
