A Soft Symphony – Modern Art Deco Redefined in a Compact Apartment

Full Name: Muzamil Hasham and Pooja Ram
Firm Name: Design Boulevard

Project Name: A Soft Symphony

Client: Mr. Rizwan Patel

Location of Project: Bhartiya City, Bengaluru

Area: 540 sqft

Type: Interior Design (Compact Home)

An apartment where materials, colours and details are juxtaposed to conceptualise a space that speaks for opulence, elegance, and modernity, highlight the definition of A Soft Symphony. The client’s requirement of a unique apartment to either live in or rent it out, as per his convenience, had us design a rather fluid themed space which is free for interpretation while being subjective to the user.
Using the Art Deco theme in a modern aspect, every element in the apartment comes alive with the perfect synchronicity of colours, light and functionality of the space. The 540 sqft area is designed to achieve fluidity by leveraging a versatile partitioning while demarcating the primary functions of the space. Beige-toned, lime-plastered walls, along with the earth-toned language of the interiors create a sense of understated luxury.

The beige, free standing TV unit is designed to seamlessly translate into a partition between the living area and the bedroom, ensuring privacy, and the right amount of openness to let the beautiful sunlight pour into the apartment.

Glimpses of a tan bed-with a fluted panel, set against an art deco wall, customised to the last detail, can be seen and appreciated from every corner of the apartment all the while adding to the visual comfort and aesthetic. The colours of the furniture, storage units and wall art blend into the functionality of the space while the deep green furniture adds a layer of depth while sitting in the background, not taking away too much of one's attention, allowing all the elements to create a balanced visual harmony and a sense of comfort.

The all-white kitchen is positioned right after the entrance and has a two-seater dining ledge integrated with it. The white acrylic finish is done keeping in mind a seamless design while blending into the background.

The original study is converted into a wardrobe space with mirrored shutters to enhance the size of the space. This gave us the opportunity to integrate the study into the niche in the bedroom area, next to the window where the client can enjoy the natural light while using the study.

The common utilities are integrated within the walk-in storage area that abuts the toilet space. This houses the washing machine and dryer, extra multi-storage space as well as storage of the maintenance and cleaning appliances.

With artistic details in every corner, the apartment is a perfect example of creating details while redefining luxury.
