I recently finished remodeling my home- after a mere 20 years! Most of the work was done by my son's father, my late father and me- it's been a family project of sorts. My style is very modern, colorful and eclectic. I grew up in Iowa, where my mother owned an antique store filled with mid century treasures - many of which became part of my early collection of furniture and objects. Over the years, I have added various pieces that I have acquired from local flea markets, antique stores and even Craigslist, all with their own unique story. I prefer old over new for the sake of recycling, repurposing and reusing- I love the idea of an object having had a whole other life before it became part of my home. I am a chef and restaurant owner so having an oasis to retreat to after long days at the restaurant is so important to me and my house is finally at the point where I am no longer seeing a project in every corner. Of course, I will continue to work on it for as long as I own it, but the big work is done and I am loving enjoying it.
