In the heart of Barcelona's iconic Eixample neighborhood, a full renovation was undertaken to transform a residence into a welcoming, family-friendly home that caters to the modern lifestyle of its inhabitants. The kitchen, already renovated in the past, was the only space left untouched during this transformation.

A key focus of the project was the preservation and restoration of the home’s original architectural elements. The high ceilings, once adorned with detailed cornices, have been restored, with some new additions replacing those that were beyond repair. The wooden windows, crucial to maintaining the character of the building, have been meticulously refurbished. In the living area, the decision was made to leave the Catalan vaulted ceilings exposed, contributing to an authentic atmosphere full of character. Similarly, one wall has been stripped back to reveal the original brickwork, and painstaking efforts were made to recover and restore the Nolla mosaic and hydraulic tiles, previously hidden under the outdated flooring.

The home’s layout was thoughtfully reconfigured to suit the needs of a modern family, prioritizing both practicality and comfort.

The master bedroom has been redesigned as a private suite, featuring a spacious walk-in closet, an en-suite bathroom, and a small workspace. In addition, the house includes two children’s bedrooms, a second bathroom, a laundry room, and a peaceful office, ideal for working from home.

A highlight of the home is the gallery, now transformed into a cozy space with armchairs and plants, perfect for relaxation. Connected to the living room through two elegant arches, it features a foldable enclosure that can be opened during pleasant weather, enhancing its versatility.

In the entrance hall, ample storage has been created with built-in closets and a bench, making it easier for family members to put on or remove shoes comfortably.

The aesthetic approach combines noble materials with neutral tones, creating a warm, inviting environment. Golden accents, seen in the bathroom fixtures, shower frame, and pendant lights in both the bedroom and dining area, add a subtle touch of luxury. The use of herringbone-patterned laminate flooring enhances the sense of warmth and elegance throughout the home.

In conclusion, this renovation in the Eixample neighborhood masterfully preserves the home’s historical charm while meeting the needs of a contemporary family, blending classic elements with modern design in perfect harmony.
