L Squared Design Build

From Dave

As a builder I never got to build for myself until now. We converted / added onto an auto repair garage to make our dream home in Jersey City NJ for my family. . Having my hands on every aspect of this project was so rewarding.
A few highlights:

A few highlights:

All the steps and kitchen surround are reclaimed lumber from the floor joists in the original building.

The front of the building was stucco covered brick. It was determined that we could not save that brick as it was in bad shape. We removed all the brick, cleaned and hand sliced to create a thin brick and then reinstalled in on the facade.

We kept the existing rear of the building and kept it as an exterior space while adding a 25’ wide operable sliding glass wall to blend the inside and the outside.

We have a 20’ retractable skylight to allow you to walk up a full flight of stairs and get views of NYC.
