In 1914, Edward and Mary Paramore lived in this house and stayed there for approximately 10 years before moving to another house in Montecito, but the Paramore family continued to own the house. Ted Paramore, the son of Edward and Mary Paramore, moved to Hollywood in the late 1920s to work as a scriptwriter and kept the house as his second home as late as 1930.
“There is no documentation as to who designed the Paramore house, but it is possible that it is the work of the architect and developer William Augustus Whittlesey (W.A.W.) Brownell,” said Zertuche. “Brownell was responsible for developing much of the Miramar Addition tract as in the case of the Paramore house, designed in the Craftsman style.”
