Residence 66 is a new model home by renowned designer Rafael de Cárdenas, located at 111 West 57th Street, a monumental ultra-luxury residential development from JDS Development Group and Property Markets Group. Award-winning Studio Sofield, led by William Sofield, designed the interior architecture for the history-making 111 West 57th Street, which is comprised of two adjacent structures: the landmarked Steinway Hall, once home to the Steinway & Sons piano company, and the newly constructed 1,428-foot tower designed by SHoP Architects — the second tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere. Perfectly centered over Central Park, the development sets a new standard for bespoke luxury living.

The new de Cárdenas model residence is a sprawling full-floor, three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom home that encompasses 3,873 square feet of space on the 66th floor of 111 West 57th Street’s tower. Listed at $25,500,000 the residence is an exposition of broad opulence and delicate restraint, featuring hand-crafted wall finishes, bespoke furnishings, and lustrous fabrics have been meticulously selected by de Cárdenas to accentuate the magnificence of the environs. Breathtaking by design, views to the north feature postcard vistas of Central Park and beyond, and to the south, river and city views of Manhattan’s iconic skyline.

"Working with 111 West 57th Street to design Residence 66 was an absolute pleasure and the home offers a rare opportunity to live in the second tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere and provides spectacular views. We liked the idea of leaning into this idea of adding an almost acid color palette, with some of the greens extending the park's form and presence into the home itself, whilst still speaking to the project's sophistication," said Rafael de Cárdenas, founder of Rafael de Cárdenas, Ltd.

Direct elevator access leads into the home’s grand entry gallery which is finished with white macauba stone floors. Dramatic double doors lead into the expansive 50-foot great room highlighted by ceiling heights up to 14 feet, intricately patterned floors in custom smoke-gray solid oak, and floor-to-ceiling windows through which to enjoy the views. In addition to special vintage pieces by Vladimir Kagan, Pascal Mourgue, Jaques Grange, Renzo Rutili, Étienne Fermigier, and Tokujin Yoshioka, de Cárdenas selected pieces from his recent furniture collaboration with Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. All fabrics in the space are by Dedar and de Cárdenas worked with Callidus Guild for custom wall treatments and wallcoverings throughout the home. De Cárdenas collaborated with Meredith Darrow of Darrow Contemporary to curate the art with a focus on works that enhance the celestial extraordinariness of the space. Atmospheric pieces by Sol LeWitt, Trevor Shimizu and Antoni Tàpies, play into the panoramic views, while iconographic pieces from Irving Penn and Roe Ethridge offer unexpected punctuation.

Residence 66 features an impressively designed open kitchen offering views of Central Park, as well as custom cabinetry in a light hand-rubbed finish, stepped crystallo white quartzite countertops and backsplash, and full suite of Gaggenau appliances. The luxuriously appointed primary bedroom suite features bedding de Cárdenas selected by Magniberg, as well as southern skyline city views, a spacious dressing hall, and a windowed bathroom clad in veined white onyx with a custom freestanding polished nickel bathtub by William Holland and custom designed fixtures hand-cast by P.E. Guerin. Secondary bathrooms are finished with crystallo gold quartzite and the powder room features a jewel onyx stone vanity, floors and wainscoting.

Residents at 111 West 57th Street will enjoy a rare porte cochere entrance on 58th Street, an 82 foot two-lane swimming pool with private cabanas, separate sauna and treatment rooms, double-height fitness center with mezzanine terrace, private dining room and chef’s catering kitchen, residents’ lounge with expansive terrace, meeting rooms and a study, 24-hour attended entrances and dedicated concierge service. Residents will also have access to an on-site padel court, golf-simulator, and children’s play room.

111 West 57th Street features a total of 60 residences, 14 in the landmarked Steinway Hall building and 46 full-floor and duplex residences within the 91-story tower, which has redefined the Manhattan skyline with its bold yet slender silhouette. Originally crafted in 1925 by Warren & Wetmore, the famed architecture firm behind New York landmarks such as Grand Central Terminal, Steinway Hall has been comprehensively reimagined to create gracious, light-filled residences and refined amenity spaces that honor the spirit of the original design. As part of the development, the neoclassical building’s ornate historic rotunda and Indiana limestone façade were painstakingly restored in collaboration with the Landmarks Preservation Commission of New York.
