111 West 57th Street - Galerie Gabriel Landmark Residence 12S

From South Florida Real Estate

Landmark Residence 12S is a new model home showcasing a stunning collection of furniture and design objects curated by Nancy Gabriel, the founder of the internationally renowned collectible design gallery Galerie Gabriel. The residence is located within 111 West 57th Street, a monumental ultra-luxury residential condominium developed by JDS Development Group and Property Markets Group. Award-winning Studio Sofield, led by William Sofield, designed the interior architecture for the history-making property, which is comprised of two adjacent structures: the landmarked Steinway Hall, once home to the Steinway & Sons piano company, and the newly constructed 1,428-foot tower designed by SHoP Architects — the second tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere. Perfectly centered over Central Park, the development sets a new standard for bespoke luxury living.

Located in the Landmarked building, the Galerie Gabriel residence is a sprawling three-bedroom, found-and-a-half bathroom home that features 3,601 square feet of space. Priced at $6,995,000, the home offers an unparalleled opportunity for a resident to enjoy modern conveniences within grand spaces reminiscent of the pre-war era. The residence features an impressive collection of items personally selected by Nancy Gabriel that each showcase historical design movements from the 20th century and create interesting dialogues between different periods within that time frame.

"The 111 West 57th Street residence is truly special to me and a fantastic opportunity to showcase contemporary craftsmanship. The home provides the ideal location to feature a thoughtfully curated collection of furniture and design pieces that not only touch on the rich history of 20th century design but also perfectly showcases modern living today. The works were meticulously placed throughout the residence to highlight the interior architecture, unique features, and the memorable moments that can be found throughout the home,” said Nancy Gabriel, founder of Galerie Gabriel.

Direct elevator access leads into the home’s elegant entry foyer which is finished with white macauba stone floors. An expansive great room provides southern exposure and custom smoke gray oak floors in a parquet pattern. The living room features a gold-leafed, perforated steel table with black tinted glass called the Flaque Table that was designed by Jean Royère, one of the most important designers of the 20th century. Accompanying the table is a mohair sofa also designed by Royère, as well as wood armchairs by noted Brazilian designer Jose Zanine Caldas, providing an elegant contrast with the table. Also featured in the living room is a silvered metal and bronze cabinet by Elisabeth Garouste and Mattia Beonetti, a design art piece, that also serves as a bridge between Royère and Caldas’s works as they took a similar approach to their designs. A pair of stainless steel and bronze sconces by Maria Pergay also illuminate the living room and are one of her most iconic works.

In the dining room an oak wood console by noted Italian designer Carlo Scarpa is surrounded by a collection of Brazilian designed chairs. Also featured is a console crafted in walnut from Georges Mohasseb who was recently named to the AD100. Ceramics by noted designer Livia Gorka are found throughout the residence, punctuated spaces with its interesting designs. Galerie Gabriel also partnered with Valerie Cueto of Cueto Art Advisory to bring in an impressive collection of artwork to the home. Valérie Cueto is an international art advisor and curator with over three decades of experience in building private collections and sourcing exceptional works of art and design for collectors, renowned institutions, art foundations, and museums.

Landmark Residence 12S features a separate kitchen and wet bar, finished with Cristallo Gold quartzite countertops and backsplash, custom hand-crafted cabinetry, and a full suite of Gaggenau appliances. A study adjacent to the entry foyer provides a comfortable space for relaxation, and includes a convenient en-suite bathroom. The corner primary bedroom offers bright southeastern exposure, and is outfitted with a large walk-in closet, a windowed bathroom clad in Italian white Venato marble, a free-standing copper soaking tub handcrafted by William Holland, and custom bronze fixtures by P.E. Guerin. Two additional secondary bedrooms face east, both of which are outfitted with en-suite bathrooms.

Residents at 111 West 57th Street will enjoy a rare porte cochere entrance on 58th Street, an 82 foot two-lane swimming pool with private cabanas, separate sauna and treatment rooms, double-height fitness center with mezzanine terrace, private dining room and chef’s catering kitchen, residents’ lounge with expansive terrace, meeting rooms and a study, 24-hour attended entrances and dedicated concierge service. Residents will also have access to an on-site padel court, golf-simulator, and children’s play room.

111 West 57th Street features a total of 60 residences, 14 in the landmarked Steinway Hall building and 46 full-floor and duplex residences within the 91-story tower, which has redefined the Manhattan skyline with its bold yet slender silhouette. Originally crafted in 1925 by Warren & Wetmore, the famed architecture firm behind New York landmarks such as Grand Central Terminal, Steinway Hall has been comprehensively reimagined to create gracious, light-filled residences and refined amenity spaces that honor the spirit of the original design. As part of the development, the neoclassical building’s ornate historic rotunda and Indiana limestone façade were painstakingly restored in collaboration with the Landmarks Preservation Commission of New York.
