A strong believer that homes should harmoniously merge with their natural surroundings ("of it, not on it"), Fred Hollingsworth aimed to articulate such vision with his Neoteric collection of homes. This includes the Lantern House, which appears to rise from the North Vancouver slopes.

The remote studio/office that Robert Swatt of Swatt Miers Architects designed for a Healdsburg, California, property is marked by glass walls that provide the feeling of working in nature.

A ceiling and flooring made from Western Red Cedar pay tribute to the trees of the forested landscape.

Extra-wide concrete pillars help to support the studio at its core.

“I don’t paint landscapes when I’m here because I can’t compete with the natural beauty,” says Yael.

The bathroom continues the colored theme of the kitchen with a slate blue Kateryn bateau cast-iron skirted tub by Signature Hardware.

The two story addition looks into the back yard from the playroom and upstairs office. The entire curved wall opens up with a motorized garage-door window.
