“I fell in love with a green cement tile from Concrete Collaborative when we were starting to talk about the bathrooms,” says Leah of the brand’s ‘Laguna’ tile in Lichen, which covers the guest bathroom’s floor. “From there, we kept everything pretty minimal, letting the tile be the focal point.”

When neighbors were getting rid of an old half pipe, Leah and Jakeh scooped it up, creating a skate ramp for their kids in the front yard. “We used plants to border it to make it feel like it was always there,” says Leah.

If you’re considering forgoing the bed frame entirely, make sure it looks intentional rather than haphazard. Install light fixtures at a level that is appropriate for the low-lying bed, and keep big pillows away from overhead artwork or windows.
