Woud’s modular sofa provides a vibrant accent color used elsewhere in the house and ADU. The striped club chair is from Ferm Living; the Eames chair and ottoman were among the only things the couple brought with them from Colorado. The knot cushions are by Design House Stockholm, and the prints are by Cornelia Thomsen.

Both Dan and Colette cite the windows and natural light as their favorite element of the extension. "The large windows at the back make such a difference, and the ones at the front are big too—they open fully, so you can swing them right open and sit on the ledge to look out,

A built-in desk and shelving unit crafted in oak make the study a serene place for Dan to work from home. “The joinery is what links the geometry of the mansard and the curved walls,” says architect Oliver Cooke. “It makes the space feel sculpted rather than fitted in.”

The stairs from the first floor lead directly into the new study, which opens out to a generous roof terrace.

Black Ikea cabinets and a leather honed black quartz countertop convey a moody vibe.

The same white oak flooring continues on this level, combined with built-in storage by Kevin, using Ikea cabinets with a custom natural oak countertop leading into the dressing room.

Philippe has an impressive collection of books, but prior to the renovation they were scattered all over. The integrated shelves lining the staircase consolidate his books and create a hybrid stair-storage-shelving system.

The main bedroom was the final piece of the puzzle—a blank slate they could design slowly and intentionally. “It’s the luxury of doing it last,” says Jean. “By then, you actually know how you want to live.”
