The Tasmanian oak timber battened panels accentuate the verticality of the spaces. “They draw the eye up from the kitchen all the way to the skylight at the top of the central void, and make the already tall ceilings feel even higher,” says architect Bronwyn Litera.

A shaft of light illuminates the interior. “A friend of mine compared the visual elements to Jodorowsky,” Jane said. “Very cinematic.”

A port hole window along the side of the house mimics the image of a cruise ship and breaks up the solid white blocks of the architecture.
