Semi-Annual Sale Favorites from the Dwell Store

From their iconic lighting to classic furniture, some of the most important design brands are featuring their celebrated products at a discounted price for a limited time. For the last week of these amazing semi-annual sales, we’ve assembled a list of eight sale items, including modern design classics from Vitra, Artek, and Flos.

A legendary icon, the Arco lamp designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for FLOS was first released in 1962. A heavy marble base balances and suspends the swooping stem and polished Aluminum dome. To coincide with FLOS and Arco’s fiftieth anniversary, this masterpiece was updated with LED technology, adding high performance to an already impeccable design. The Arco Floor Lamp is available at the Dwell Store.

Designed by Alvar Aalto in 1936, the Artek 901 Tea Trolley is a surprisingly updated take on traditional bar carts and tea trays. The sculpted, natural lacquered birch frame is paired with two shelves and white lacquered MDF wheels with black rubber rings to provide smooth movement without damaging floors. American designer George Nelson created everyday objects including lamps, clocks, and accessories with the mission of bringing modern design into American homes in the 1950s. Nelson worked with Vitra to create a variety of wall clocks, including the Ball Clock, now a midcentury icon. The design originated from a night of collaborating with Isami Noguchi, Bucky Fuller, and others, and although many designs from the session were considered silly, the sketch of the Ball Clock ended up becoming fully realized.
