Modern Shoji Screen Submitted by: Name not provided Designer's Description: The goal of "Modern Shoji Screen" is to create a light and flexible partition for making an airy modern interior space by applying an idea of traditional Japanese Shoji. This newly revived Shoji screen is made by translucent fabric sandwiched with a pair of glasses set in thin extruded aluminum profiles instead of Japanese paper in wood grill. In this project, the screen is installed to divide temporal Japanese style room from living space of compact condominium in Japan. The Shoji Screen fabric's botanical patterned is chosen to match seashells of the Verner Panton pendant lamp above dining table and floral upholstery of sofa.

The master bedroom has a Japanese vibe thanks to shoji screens, which slide to reveal the home's hidden highlight.

The countertop in the master bathroom is Taj Mahal quartzite. The master shower is separated from the rest of the bathroom with a decorative curtain, rather than a glass door, so the space feels like its own separate experience.

The interior features exposed ceiling beams and concrete walls, and the decor celebrates natural materials like timber and jute.

Built-in shelving under the stairs to the mezzanine level provides the resident with extra storage.

The mudroom offers plenty of built-in storage, which was essential for the family with young children. The bold panoramic wallpaper is Forêt Noire by Nathalie Lété for Moustache.

"I've always loved the way buildings look when they're under construction, and the walls of the office are basically like open framing," Davis says.

This custom-built timber storage unit serves as a counterpoint to the glass-walled study and injects a sense of honey-hued warmth to a mostly monochromatic palette.
