La Paloma Gaudi was selected for the exterior brickwork to foil the white-colored ones in the kitchen. Blackbutt wood was used for the decking.

Some of the furnishings and materials were sourced from a company in L.A. called Unbuilt.co that buys leftovers from construction sites. “They work hard at giving materials a second chance,” says Jade. This is where she found the mixed-pattern tiles they’ve used on the front and back porches.

Jade built a bridge out of some salvaged pieces of wood from elsewhere in the home. It used every board they had. But when her son ran over the little bridge for the first time, “I realized I did alllll this work for that moment. And I’d do it all over again.”
