The yellow (which appears lighter in the images than it is in real life) was used on the wood-paneled interior walls of the bedrooms and other details like the headboards and wardrobes.

In addition to the red façade, floor and ceiling, a rich forest green (Green Smoke #E160, by CIN) was combined with a warm, mustard-yellow accent color (Yellow Mustard #E714 by CIN) in the annex bedrooms.

The annex has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a separate living room, and a small kitchen.

The lamps - a budget buy from IKEA - are not the same color as the ceiling but look like a perfect match.

The old wood-burning fireplace in the living room (age unknown) was purchased from another nearby property.

The oxidized red color <span style="font-family: Theinhardt, -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, &quot;Segoe UI&quot;, Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, &quot;Helvetica Neue&quot;, sans-serif;">(Bull's Blood #E444 runs throughout the house, from the façade of the annex to the red concrete floors on the ground floor and the same color used to paint the wooden beams in the gabled roof on the second floor.

“The house is kind of crooked, with rough floors, and no fancy finishes—but it has lots of personality,” says architect Francisco Mesquita Moura.

The homeowners lean against the back wall of the yard. A bench covered with tile by Brazilian artist Helena Leopardi runs the width of the lot, providing seating for parties with friends and family.

The garden is planted with araça, bacupari and aroeira trees, all native varieties.

The yellow and khaki tiles in this powder room echo the color scheme in the main living area.

In the home office and media room, which overlooks the street, the architects were able to preserve the distinctive, star-shaped parquet floors.

The custom-made wooden dining table is surrounded by a set of Claudia chairs by Aristeu Pires.

The second floor has an open-plan living and dining area integrated with a single-row kitchen. To the right of the “parlor” is a new addition with rows of skylights.

A curved sofa by Brazilian designers Danilo Lopes and Paula Gontijo is paired with an armchair by Roberta Banqueri, and a yellow-painted Tajá chair by Sergio Rodrigues.
