Jason and Laura Miller-Smith tapped Cover Architecture and EEK Studio to update their Buff and Hensman midcentury home with custom casework, ribbed glass, and a grand fireplace while staying true to the original plans.

One of the couple’s favorite new details is the built-in, L-shaped bookcase in the den.

HUTCH Design used organic materials and earthy tones to transform this former concrete pig shed outside of London.

Christine pushed the design team to integrate a planter into the concrete foundation. "We searched a long time for an unconventional plant that would bring the green to the inside," she says. "We chose the Sparmannia africana, which has big, plush, velvety green leaves that let the light shine through and give a very calming feel and soft light to the room."

The wood stove is the Rondo model by Rais.

SHED converted the side door into the front door, adding a new entry sequence with a patio, landscaping, stairs, and a metal awning to protect the porch. Wide stairs and a patio lead down to new sliding glass door in the basement, which now has utility spaces and a media room/office. Many of the original window openings were kept on this façade and given new Andersen E-Series units. Two smaller openings were bricked in.
