Designed to Do Good
Earlier this summer, the international architecture non-profit organization Shelter Global announced their Dencity Competition winners. The competition invites architects and designers from around the world to address issues in urbanism and unplanned cities. In its second year, the competition continues to inspire design professionals and communities to work together and imagine innovative solutions to improve their cities. Here are the top three projects from this year's competition.
Second place was awarded to Lauren Brosius. To improve the living conditions and economy of the Alexandra Township in Johannesburg, one of the poorest urban areas in South Africa, Brosius proposed to allocate funds to build flexible infrastructure that would maintain the density with public housing and facilite a strong community.
