A large deck off of the principal suite provides a space to relax overlooking the pool.

The oversized eaves provide protection from the elements and allow one to walk around the entire home in all weathers. Rain chains are used as decorative alternatives to downpipes.

The clients wanted the house to be “in contact with the forest, the ground, and the outdoors.” As such, the deck has no railing, and it hovers slightly above the ground, allowing the family to step right into the landscape.

The hanging textile, which is used as a room divider, is by artist Nathalie Van der Massen.

Candour is a prefab building system and a tool to customize building components within that system—including walls, floors, facades, and roofs—with a proprietary CAD plug-in. Users of the software can draft a design, determine if it’s feasible, and price it all in one day. Designs are built at Candour’s manufacturing facility in Sunshine, Melbourne.

This home by AtelierM in Buenos Aires lands somewhere between a hobbit hole and a partially disguised spaceship. The architects built the home for a young couple who wanted to live more in contact with the earth.

The lounge room on the first floor features Fly chairs in white oiled oak by SPACE Copenhagen for &Tradition, sourced from Great Dane Furniture, and a Bart swivel armchair by Moooi from Space Furniture.

When Cathy and Craig bought the land, it was completely bare. With plenty of sun and rain, these palms have grown a lot in the last two years.

A large brick patio awaits adjacent to the main living areas, catering to easy entertaining.

The kitchen cabinetry and butterfly joints were inspired by renown chef Rene Redzepi's home kitchen in Copenhagen.

Amy worked with Josh Tomlinson of Tomlinson Woodworks to craft the island, which is as much of a showpiece as it is for storage. He also did the cabinetry.

The open shelves of the kitchen are a place to showcase the couple's cookbooks and ceramics, which Amy also creates.
