In the adjoining sleeping area, a one-of-a-kind rug woven from recycled sari silk, sourced from ABC Carpet, lies beneath a Hartley Bed from Room & Board in indigo velvet. The Pablo Lamp by Arteriors rests atop a steel-and-black-glass end table by Caligaris.

Custom metal shelves display books. The flooring throughout is white oak, and its color syncs nicely with the tones in the brick—inside and out.

A chain curtain from Cascade Coil separates the kitchen without interrupting sightlines or sunlight. “When you light the outside brighter than the inside at night, it becomes more opaque,” says Mark. Bulthaup cabinetry joins appliances by Gaggenau and Miele.

The kitchen is grounded by a Carrera marble island, over which hangs a set of opaline pendant lamps from the 1970s. The bar stools are also vintage from the 1970s, while the bright green chairs around the dining table are by Bruno Rey.

Janette’s designer daughter, Kendra Sosothikul, chose Masters chairs from Design Within Reach and linen sheers from Donghia for the dining area.

Expansive sliding doors create a breezy space.

Designed as a place to relax and take in the view, the living area features a custom sectional covered in fabric by Kravet and swivel chairs in fabric by Brentano. "Everything is family-friendly,” says Kendra. “We weren’t just designing for beauty—it had to be functional.” The custom table was finished with teak paper cord. The sconce is by Allied Maker.

The interior paint color is Extra White by Sherwin Williams. It acts as a blank canvas for the moments of color to shine.

“It feels very much like a home, where we mixed products from our design partners together very organically, whether they be books, textiles, ceramics or furniture, so there is a sense of inspiration and discovery," says McKinley.

Japanese-style joinery means that The Bed by Thuma can be set up in a flash.

A mix of colors and textures adds character to this bedroom that features a Floyd bed frame, Wright mattress and bedding, a HAY side table and Aelfie rug and tapestry.

A view from the front door shows that the bright and airy open floor plan leads straight through to the backyard.

The new entry is divided from the kitchen and dining area by a fir screen. Wood cabinetry wraps the kitchen.

The powder room features Botanica Jungle Fever wallpaper by Emily Ziz.

All of the window glass needed to be replaced, but the lancet-style at the top retains the building’s character, while the bottom sill was dropped down several feet. The blue velvet couch is from Maison Corbeil.

A two-sided fireplace cozies up the living room and dining room. The vintage, blue-and-white couch was refurbished by Paul Tetreault & Fils.

Happy hour has never looked so good. The home's wet bar receives stylish treatment with an asymmetrical facade and mirrored background.
