This feature visually separates work and life within the confines of the condo's square footage, since the computer is not visible from the bed, and vice versa.

Renowned firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson designed an understated 1,000-square-foot cabin in a lakeside town in Northern Michigan.

Warwas finished the high-ceilinged ADU kitchen with a skylight and a large square window that fills the space with natural light. The artworks are by Antonio.

Facundo Ochoa’s beach house is an ode to craft and coastal living with a sprawling deck, DIY details, and lots of room to hang out.

The large window that punctuates the front facade "is called a flower window in the Netherlands because of its depth; the ledge is a place to put flowers," Collaris says. "In this case, it's an extra place to sit in the living room."

Three strategically placed large windows mark the home's front facade, and in combination with the vertical siding and the asymmetrical roofline, lend a graphic presence.

The oak cabinet in the living room was another secondhand find. “It had the exact measurements of the wall,” says Annemie. “We just needed to hang it.” The throw blanket is from La Femme Garniture while the pillows and pendants are custom.

Although the width of the stairway walls didn't change, new wood treads and a wider extension at the bottom of the space help make it feel both brighter and less confining.

The upper portion of wall between the basement stairway and the kitchen was removed and its lower half replaced with glass, creating more openness between the basement and upstairs.

Dolce sits at the dining-room table in front of the elegantly slatted cypress divider, which separates the living space from the new staircase.

Amanda made all the tiles for the new kitchen backsplash. In total, she crafted more than 1,000 tiles in her studio. Amanda's ceramic sculptures are also placed around the home.

Removing a wall between the kitchen and the dining room helped open up both spaces. Legge and Amanda decided to add scalloped ceilings to the dining room and kitchen in a nod to the scalloped details found elsewhere in the home.

The custom slatted wood railings is fitted with discreet flip-down hooks to hang coats. Stairs lead down to a guest space and an additional unit for a future caretaker. An elevator, not visible, also connects the two levels. The Overlap pendant is by Michael Anastassiades for Flos.
