Colors - white?

Consider this lively bathroom that sits within a recently completed waterfront home in Bridgehampton, New York. Situated on two-and-a-half acres of land with 360-degree views of the nearby bay and ocean, it's covered with brightly colored floor-to-ceiling tiles that reflect the shades of the neighboring water. One step through the sliding glass doors and you’ll find yourself on an open terrace.

White walls and concrete floors define the ground level, where a Bend sectional and Metropolitan chair by B&B Italia, an Arper pouf, Bella coffee tables by HAY, and a Peace Industry rug furnish the main living area.

White-and-blue, wood-grain–patterned UonUon tiles by 14oraitaliana line the bathroom walls in a loft above the garage.

The elegant, modernist-inspired living space boasts vintage Barcelona chairs and a Cassina sectional. The French doors lead out to the courtyard.

"There’s a mutual tendency to stay in and work all the time because we have big creative appetites. We have to remind ourselves to take regular breaks to get out, see friends, interact with our community, and explore the many hidden gems on the California coast.”

Overhead ceiling beams and a unique light fixture make the ceiling an important presence in the room.

"It’s not uncommon for sellers to throw some new black plastic under the house to conceal any potential water problems,” says Burkholder. “Old leaky pipes are one problem, but a high water level that leaves the crawlspace musty can be an expensive fix as well.”

After: The kitchen faces the back garden and benefits from a double height atrium space. Pine has been used for the kitchen flooring and cabinets. Extensive glazing gives the ground floor living spaces a direct visual link with the courtyard and terrace.

Windows and skylights from the eastern façade bring in an abundance of light throughout the day.

Here, laminate kitchen cabinets are topped with Corian in Glacier White for a fresh and fun color-blocked look.

Indoor/outdoor living was a priority in the redesign, and the interior was reconfigured so that views of the backyard and the majestic gum tree can be immediately seen as soon as the front door is opened.

The couple’s preference for raw, natural materials, tactile surfaces, and verdant color can be seen throughout the house.

Lush plants and cool shades of blue and green bring a little nature into this chic, urban home.

The walls were covered in raw lime plaster, and modern, flush paneling in rough, cross-sawn limed oak wraps around the interior walls to form cabinets, doors, and dado rails.

The white countertops are made from concrete and the wooden cabinets have been painted a subtle shade of sage. The floors are white oak hardwood.
