“We think everybody should have color in their office space,” says Maciagowski. “It’s what keeps us happy and motivated. It’s good for morale. Sometimes you’ll have it in one conference room, but we’ve applied it everywhere.”

Their former studio was an hour-long commute for Perron, so this new proximity is “life-changing.”

With not a lot of natural light in these narrow spaces, choosing the right color was key. “It’s kind of a way to bring in sunlight,” says Maciagowski. Warm, sunny yellows can be found on both floors.

Red bricks add solar insulation to the south-facing wall of the office addition.

Cedar windows and details add to the natural warmth and texture of the interiors.

Conserving water and energy was a top priority when designing the cabin.

A generously proportioned bathroom accommodates a washer and dryer alongside, large walk-in shower, wall-hung toilet, and wall-mounted sink with an integrated storage shelf and medicine cabinet.

The compact bathroom includes a marble sink and walk-in shower alongside a hidden closet for laundry and additional storage.

The harmonious blend of old and new is showcased in the first-floor office, where a Victorian-era pocket door—salvaged by Carly from Facebook Marketplace—stands alongside contemporary fixtures and furnishings. After completing the home with Scott Simpson Design + Build, Carly now uses this space to help her own clients.

The guest room also doubles as the office, thanks to clever use of storage and space.

the office has a desk that can be folded down and a couch that can extend into a bed, for occasional guests.

The new main bath includes Material ash cabinetry, limestone counters, a Brizo Litze faucet, CB2 mirror and Clé cement tile.

The bedroom on the lower level is currently being used as an office.

Instead of renting an office elsewhere, they took over their building’s front yard and expanded their ground-floor workspace into a nook they call El Retiro.At their plywood desk, the couple are sometimes joined by colleagues from JAG like Victoria Peralta or their daughter, Morena.

In the powder room, the marble hex floor tile was sourced from Tile for Less in Seattle, while Matthew copied the design for the wainscot from the lobby of the historic Publix Hotel, now an apartment building. The sink and faucet are both salvaged finds, with a sink bowl from Elkay. Matthew and Holly chose the Scalamandre wallpaper because it was designed for the NYC restaurant Gino’s, where Matthew’s grandfather was a regular.

The study was a non-negotiable for Chloe and Chester, who split their time between their city offices and home. Chloe uses this space while Chester has taken over the second bedroom upstairs for his home office.

Ed’s study—which includes a Jahi Plaid rug by Lauren Ralph Lauren, an Eames chair, and desk lamp by Project 62 for Target—is the only enclosed room on the upper levels.

The Sky Room is a place for homework, for play, and for overlooking the landscape.
