A Japanese soaking tub is positioned beneath a window to appreciate the site.

In the shower, the slat wall feeds into a convenient bench.

The hardware, bathtub, and sinks are also all by Kohler.

Pale-green tiles in the en suite bath match the curtains separating the bedroom from the study.

In the kids' bathroom, Marmoreal flooring with a black background and green, gold, and green spots, a Nickey Kehoe-designed green-and-white shower curtain, pale green Farrow & Ball vanity paint, and brass fixtures add color and playful touches.

Because the primary bathroom receives little natural light, the designer employed Zellige shower tile that reflects light and offers texture.

This bathroom is renovated in the same style as the kitchen. Crisp white cabinetry and subway tile provide a clean look, contrasting nicely with the original redwood ceiling.

The updated master bath features a deep soaking tub and a serene view.

The same ceramic tiles are used in the master bathroom.

The bathroom features simple black hex tile on the floor and white tile laid in a grid on the walls. The custom vanity is fir, in keeping with the rest of the home’s material palette.

Skylights placed between the existing eaves fill the new bathroom with light. “That was a moment where we thought that we could tie in our changes to the house seamlessly with the old design,” says Marsh. “When the light goes over the skylight, it creates different shadow lines.”

Now, a walk-in shower and soaking tub are tucked under the roof line.

While Herbst doesn't typically construct step-in bathtubs, this project led the team to work on as small a scale as possible as to balance the supporting stilts.

The master bath was the largest renovation project of the home. "We ended up extending the bathroom, removing the dressing area and the small original bathroom, and gutted the whole thing," she says. "This created a larger master bath with a free-standing tub and double showers." Then, they added open glass panels and had a custom concrete sink made by Trueform Concrete. On the floor lies custom-cut, chevron -atterned, gray tile and 2' by 16' glossy subway tiles that are stacked horizontally.

The designers specified Nero Marquina tile in a 2"x12" honed finish to cover the bathroom floor "for a dramatic yet seamless look in the large master bathroom."

In the guest bathroom, a set of Senegalese nesting baskets mirrors the yellow-and-white pattern on the linoleum floor.

Samuel designed the unique brass inlay pattern for the terrazzo floors, and the new glass-enclosed shower is an airy reprieve. All of the fixtures and faucets are from Wayfair.
