Creating a glossy modern bathroom perfect for pampering was a favorite part of this NYC apartment renovation. A gorgeous jewel box bath, it features a custom built-in vanity, vessel sink, glass shower enclosure, and ceramic wall tile in a gray and white color scheme.

Luxurious amenities outfit the master bathroom, where wood shelving provides a warm counterpoint to blue tiles and a concrete sink and tub.

Grace Boyd’s favorite room has a stunning view of Puget Sound reflected in the Hinoki tub she had custom-sized by Roberts Hot Tubs. The clean lines of soaking tubs “work well in conventional bathrooms,” says Roberts’ Andrew Harris, “no need to make the whole room Japanese-style.” Grace echoed the grey of the sea and sky in the sinks and the silvery pebbles around the tub. After 32 years in West Seattle, she asked architect Mark Travers to build her a new house in the same spot- she couldn’t bear to lose her view. Designer Joel Contreras hired architect neighbor Jonah Busick, of Foundry12, to renovate his 1927 bungalow in Phoenix. The large bathroom got a modern overhaul with a skylight that illuminates the space, along with a new white tub from Brizo, black fixtures, wooden elements, and a concrete double basin from SlabHaus.
