Canadian National Exhibition Washrooms

We were incredibly excited when the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) approached us to design new washroom facilities for the event that all Torontonians agree represents the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year: the Ex. We made gender-neutral washrooms out of 40’ shipping containers and retrofitted them with all the necessary washroom facilities. Their design also included multiple doors and division of the containers into “stalls” to create a more private user experience. The project received extensive social media attention for the promoting inclusiveness and reducing washroom lineups by encouraging all genders to use them. Unfortunately, we didn’t hear anything about them reducing admission ticket lineups.
