Guy M. our client and owner of Kailani ice teas decided to install his new home office In a building designed by Coderch, a famous catalan architect, in the Barceloneta neighbourhood, close to the beach. The establishment is a stunning Mediterranean minimal design from the 1950’s. It was a social construction project realised to relocate the fishermen living in shacks on the city’s coast line. The 60m2 flat is not very big but very well laid out as there is no corridors, no lost space.

Wenes and Lens conceptualized a gradation of white to gray hues for the walls of the 1,500-square-foot gallery into the 4,000-square-foot home, culminating in a deep gray for the master bedroom. The room is reserved for meaningful pieces from the couple’s collection, such as a figure they found at a market in Beijing and lamps by artists Wenes represents.

When planning the renovation, the owner gave Standard Studio complete freedom to develop the design. In the unconventional bedroom, the bed sits against a black feature wall, with a prominent freestanding bathtub on the opposite side. In addition to the wood beams, all original windows from the old sugar refinery were preserved, to keep the "soul" of the building intact.
