This remodel of an Eichler-inspired townhouse, consisted of gutting the entire structure and replacing it with a dynamic, modern loft space. A new sky-lit central staircase bisects the space, flooding the formerly dark interior with natural light, while opening direct access from the entry to the living room and to the views of the backyard beyond.

A new kitchen, dining and sitting area placed up a half-level looking down onto the formerly isolated living room.

The staircase continues to the third floor, connecting the master bedroom suite to two additional bedrooms via a dramatic aluminum-grated bridge. The rather pedestrian-level exterior was re-clad in vertical cedar, galvalume, and steel-trowelled stucco, giving a dramatic facelift to this mid-century building.
