These Heirloom-Quality Pieces From CB2 Are Designed With Longevity in Mind
Partner Story

Sustainable design has found itself in a moment of collective consciousness over the last decade.
Consumers are increasingly aware of the environmental impact of their everyday actions, including where they shop and what they buy, and know the path to a better world often starts small—right in their home.
There’s, of course, the larger green initiatives you can take in the building and planning stages of your design journey, but outfitting your place with eco-friendly furniture is an accessible entry point for renters and buyers alike.
Now more than ever, design companies are making strides to support these decisions, taking a look in the mirror to create a more circular business model and a larger breadth of sustainable and long-lasting product options.
"For us and many more in the industry, ‘quality’ includes responsible design and smart craftsmanship–reducing our footprint on the environments we source from in the long run," says Andrea Erman, Product Design Lead of lifestyle brand CB2.
Responsible design starts with the material, whether it’s using wood from responsibly managed forests or timeless materials like stone and marble that, with continued care at home, can age in place with you for many years to come.
"We believe the changes we make today transform the way we live tomorrow and it is something our brand continues to embrace openly whether it be about environmental improvement, climate neutrality, or diversity in design," says Erman. For CB2’s own sustainability journey, that means 60 percent Certified Preferred Fibers grown without chemicals or pesticides in their textiles and 50 percent Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)®-Certified furniture by 2025.
Below, we’ve highlighted some of our new favorite responsibly-sourced pieces from CB2 for the eco-conscious design lover in all of us.

The Milbrae Curved Rattan by Brett Beldock is sophisticated, sinuous, and sustainable for those in-between spaces. The grasscloth that covers the FSC®-certified poplar wood frame is meant to gradually develop into a slightly warmer tone, and plays nicely with the green marble base and unlacquered brass of the Caro Black and White Table Lamp.
Designed in London by James Patterson, the white-washed simplicity of the Geary Round White Wood Dining Table makes for a versatile piece in dining rooms or entryways alike. Its base and top are engineered with FSC®-certified oak veneer, solid mahogany, and engineered hardwood. Match it with the Taos Black Marble Bar Cart—made with Italian Arabescato marble veneer and FSC®-certified blackened ash wood—for a dramatic, monochromatic contrast.

"Outdoor furniture should last you a lifetime. It really should," says Los Angeles-based interior and product designer Ross Cassidy, who designed six new coordinating suites of outdoor furniture for CB2. The frames of his Pinet Teak Suite are made from FSC®-certified natural unfinished teak that is designed to patina into a silvery gray. The textured ivory cushions on the sofa, lounge chair, and ottoman are also designed with endurance in mind with removable cushion covers in a fade-resistant fabric.
