Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup both graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts' School of Architecture in 1969. Both men worked together at Danish architect Henning Larsen's studio after graduating. The two architects teamed up professionally and worked together for the majority of their careers, including their first design—the Semi Pendant Light—in 1968 while they were still in university. The Bonderup & Thorup team has designed watches and in-store displays for Georg Jensen, the Arktikum museum in Finland, and the harbor area in Elsinore, where they designed everything, from urban planning projects to the ticket offices.
