Alec Soth (rhymes with "both") is a photographer who lives in Minnesota. His images have been exhibited and published all over the world, but his favorite place to shoot is the big middle of America. So when he gets the change to go to Kansas, he goes—even in the middle of the winter ("We're Not in Kansas Anymore," May 2011). Soth prefers to drive his own minivan rather than fly: "They don't call it an Odessey for nothing," he says.
