This 1926 Spanish Colonial house was a lucky find in the Hollywood Dell neighborhood, which once claimed celebrities like Charlie Chaplin and Roy Rogers as residents. Now, the neighborhood is home to “a healthy mix of old-timers, families, artists, writers, and professionals,” say the designers at Cuffhome, a Los Angeles–based design firm and product line. “Surrounded by stucco walls, terra-cotta tile roofs, filigreed iron ornamentation, the Hollywood Dell is a best-kept secret, a small-town pocket in the heart of the city.”

Cuffhome was approached to revamp this 2,800-square-foot home into a comfortable haven for a family of four. The bones were there from the start. “When we initially began the design, it had stunning, original stucco walls, beautifully shaped windows with expansive views, architectural fireplaces, high ceilings, wood beams, and interesting details throughout,” say the designers.

They retained all of those elements while overseeing a top-to-bottom makeover, including much-needed structural work and full renovations to the four bathrooms, then brought in modern furnishings and textiles in a warm palette of blush, terra-cotta, and cream that complement the home’s innate character.
