1. The Reading Room

From the project uploader: "Built from a folding façade of glass and oak cladding, Studio Carver deliver a spacious and light filled extension within a confined north London garden that is a characterful addition to the property and sympathetic to the original house. The 6 sqm extension is designed around a large picture window projecting out into the patio and garden. The new study encloses against an existing garden wall with bespoke joinery and desks. The interiors of Reading Room are created from tableau of oak timber, which form the ample shelving, storage and desk spaces in the study."

2. Agate Pass Cabin

Architect: Olson Kundig, Location: Bainbridge Island, Washington

From the owner: " When I first saw the original house, it consisted of a one-story cabin with low 7 feet 6-inch ceiling heights and an attic. The original "screened-in" porch was converted into a heated room shortly after it was built with the addition of windows in place of the porch screens. A small second floor terrace was added over the porch that is nested into the foliage of an old maple tree. I turned the first floor porch into a long room. Two-thirds is a dining room that seats ten people and the remaining one-third is my home office."

4. Beatty Street Loft

Interior designer: Falken Reynolds Interiors, Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

From the interior designer: "Splitting time between New York and Vancouver, the owners of a 1,100-square-foot loft in the latter city’s Crosstown neighborhood needed room to work from home, and as ardent sports fans they also wanted space to host large game-day gatherings. To seamlessly bring together the two activities and coastal influences, the couple to do a complete renovation of this loft space. Multiple work areas were added—a new dining room (once a storage room and shower), seating at the kitchen island, desk in the bedroom and dining table on the 400-square-foot covered patio. Inspired by Brooklyn’s warehouse lofts, modern craftsman elements were combined with the richness of oiled walnut to give the space a distinctly American feel—a warm reference to the couple’s bicoastal lives."

From the architect: "The first of two units on the site, the Chelsea House presents an open and inviting facade to the street that sets the tone for a series of spaces within that flow seamlessly into each other.The spacious interior establishes a dialog with a central courtyard space that is defined by the buildings surrounding overlapping volumes and serves to tie the home together into a fluid continuous experience."
