A dining area now joins the kitchen. Herringbone wood floors replace the dated tile, while synching with the original floors in the front room. "We created a big, open kitchen that allowed them to have a dining space that was open to it," says Lee. "They don’t have the formality of a proper dining room, because they wanted to be able to have their children run around. It’s very much a family-centered design."
