Clad in Stainless Steel, a Commanding Midcentury in England Wants $3.2M
This award-winning, renovated midcentury abode features an arresting, stainless-steel exterior and several courtyards.
Built in the 1960s, Eashing House is a 5,000-square-foot, seven-bedroom property that had fallen into significant disrepair before being treated to a remodel by renowned British architect Jake Edgley of Edgley Design.
Edgley preserved the home’s distinctive midcentury silhouette, re-insulated the envelope, and clad the exterior in a distinctive and sculpturesque stainless steel. Eashing House was awarded the UK Architects Journal Retrofit Award in 2014 following its completion in 2013—and the impressive property continues to make a striking impression.
"The main forms were wrapped in stainless steel to reflect the landscape and create a colorful, shimmering, envelope," explain the architects on their website.
