Built by Australian company Häuslein Tiny House Co., the Sojourner tiny house features a well insulated, treated pine timber frame clad in matte Colorbond steel and oiled Western Red Cedar, giving its shell both strength and warmth.

The 307-square-foot tiny home even has a trick up its sleeve—the Sojourner’s innovative, slide-out lounge area opens up the interiors for added living space. It’s an idea born from experience, which Häuslein co-founders Scott and Sarah Rohdich have from their two years spent living in a tiny house of their own.

Though compact in size, the Sojourner doesn’t disappoint on functionality. “We decided on full-size, efficient, and high-quality appliances including a 450-liter fridge, full-size gas oven and stove, dishwasher, microwave, and washing machine,” says Sarah.

For the display model, the designers incorporated a keyless entry; an efficient Panasonic split-system air conditioner; and a full-sized, genuine leather chaise couch with a 43-inch, ultra high definition, smart TV in the living area.

The highlight of this tiny house is its innovative living nook—where the leather chaise sectional fits snugly—which can slide outward to free up internal space.

“Under the high ceiling, surrounded by generous windows, you feel like you have a very spacious living area,” says Sarah. “The interior decor has a mixture of modern, slightly bohemian, and earthy elements. We chose light, airy, hand-sewn curtains, black fixtures and lighting, and included decorative filament globes for added warmth.”

“Every element of the home is built to last generations, and age beautifully. There is a pull out pantry, storage behind the kickboards, a full wardrobe, laundry shoot from upstairs bedroom into wardrobe cupboard below and generous cupboards and shelving throughout,” says Scott.

The Sojourner starts at $99,000 AUD, and the display model is available for $125,000.
