Before & After: A Gloomy Brooklyn Brownstone Gets Spruced Up With Splashes of Color

1 of 19

When Frederick Tang Architecture’s clients Anne and Alexis bought this Prospect Heights brownstone, the facade was a pink color. The design team brought it up first thing. "We thought they’d want to make it match the rest of the houses on the block," says Tang, who assumed as much since the home is located in a historic district, and the couple wanted to preserve historic details. "They were like, ‘No, are you kidding? We want to keep the coral pink color,’" says Tang. Pink, it should be noted, is not an approved color for landmark homes in the area, but fortunately it had been grandfathered in, so a change was not required.
