1. Casa Santísimo

One of the luxurious bathrooms in Casa Santísimo by JJRR Arquitectura. It maintains a sense of natural intimacy despite its open plan and skylight ceiling.

Architect: JJRR Arquitectura, Location: Mexico City, Mexico

From the architect: "The challenge in this project is to preserve the essence of the original house...with a large central courtyard [and the] traditional colonial hacienda characteristics of the houses in San Angel. In turn, we complemented the architectural program with a contemporary touch in such a way that respects the essence and style of the original house. To achieve this result, we think of materials such as wood, flattened whitewash, volcanic stone, glass, as well as giving importance to vegetation, with the intention of differentiating the new part from the original part of the house and achieving a good dialogue between both."

2. Weave

White oak cabinetry features throughout the Weave house—including in the marble-clad master bathroom. The walk-in shower area with a copper soaking tub transforms from a private retreat to an outdoor experience with a pivoting door, custom built by Identity Construction.

Interior designer: SGS, Location: Costa Mesa, California

From the interior designer: "California Ranch meets NYC loft in this Richard Neutra-inspired ocean view home, perched above a regional park and the Santa Ana River. The green build home features reclaimed solar water panels, providing radiant heat for the floors and hot water for the home. Consisting of and celebrating basic materials such as concrete, raw steel, and wood, the home's palette is both simple and daring."

4. Point Grey Residence

Evoke International Design prioritized views of the heavily wooded lot surrounding the Point Grey residence, shown especially on the upper floors. Nearly every room, including this wood bathroom, features large windows to drink in nature.

Designers: Evoke International Design, Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

From the designers: "The upper two floors of the house sit on a concrete podium that forms a level base on the steep slope of the site, and creates a firm boundary for the extent of the building footprint. Two independent volumes are connected by a steel-and-glass structure, allowing for deep natural light penetration into all areas of the house, while helping to minimize the overall massing."

5. Conde D'eu House

Estúdio Penha left industrial accents—like metallic frames, large windows, and cement tiles—in many rooms of Conde D'eu House.

Architect: Estúdio Penha, Location: São Paulo, Brazil

From the architect: "The client—who had lived in New York—wished for an industrial look while retaining a connection to the natural setting. Industrial iron frames were used in the bedrooms, bathrooms, and in the social side aisle of the house, which is used as a space for circulation."
