Conceptualized by Netherlands–based firm Depot Rotterdam, this sleek cabin has been created as part of a small-scale vacation retreat to celebrate the breathtaking setting of the country's Terschelling Island. Thanks to its simple, practical design, the modern cabin—named De Grote Beer—allows guests to experience the great outdoors without sacrificing style.

The simple massing consists of two blocks, which have been connected via an outdoor patio that wraps around the home. Here, outdoor spaces become one with the indoor elements.

The minimal, box-like structure is clad in black washed wood. Natural decking surrounds the masses, connecting them as a whole unit, complete with exterior living spaces. Fully equipped with all the practical amenities of a modern camping retreat, the two-bedroom, one-bath dwelling provides views of the surrounding fields from every room.

Clad in black-washed decking, the simple structure makes a quiet statement in the natural setting. While its thoughtful layout provides plenty of space for family gatherings, the cabin is also an idyllic setting for a private hideaway.

Exterior wood-burning fireplaces draw original camping elements into the luxury of an enclosed, private cabin.

Bright, spacious interiors contrast with the darkly clad exterior, while stylish, modern furnishings promise a uniquely curated stay. A subtle, natural material palette continuously wraps the interior and re-emphasizes the connection to the surrounding land.

Frederik Roijé Smoke Stack Fireplace and Grill

The opposite of bland, the Smokestack Fireplace and Grill is made with design lovers in mind. Bold and eye-catching, it draws attention with its factory chimney silhouette and rusty brown color. It’s the perfect choice for those who love creative designs and the industrial-style aesthetic. Designed by the Frederik Roijé studio, the fireplace references classic smokestacks. The corten steel material will corrode to develop a natural protective surface, enhancing the character of the fireplace at the same time. Compact and convenient, the stainless steel Smokestack Grill fits inside the opening perfectly, transforming the wood-burning stove into the coolest barbecue money can buy.

Fritz Hansen Ikebana Long Vase

Used to describe the art of arranging flowers, ikebana is Japanese for “making flowers live.” Staying true to that term, Jaime Hayon designed his Ikebana Vase (2018) to honor your flowers from top to bottom, equipping it with two drilled plates for exact positioning, which will develop a beautiful patina over time. Use it to create precise floral arrangements. Vase made in Turkey, plates made in China. Photo Courtesy of Design Within Reach

More so, hidden surprises add bonus delight to the charming living spaces. Fold-able furniture offers an additional sleeping space for extra guests and an elevated resting nook draws the night sky inward. Colorful accents infuse playfulness to the charming, minimalist retreat.

Expansive glazing creates a continuous visual connection between the interior living spaces and exterior patio.
