The 1,200-square-foot structure, known as 'Case Study House #11,' was then sold via a silent auction and moved from the campus to its current location in nearby Altadena.

Extensive historical records provide more information about this model home and the Learn by Doing program at Pasadena City College. The student initiative, which started in 1949, aimed to complete one home each year as part of the college's building construction class.

According to records: “The home design was selected from plans submitted by Pasadena Unified School District and P.C.C. students under sponsorship of the Pasadena Architectural Club. Members of the building class worked together under student and close faculty leadership four hours daily for two years to produce a house.”

With three bedrooms, as well as one and a half bathrooms, this piece of local history incorporated state-of-the-art building techniques and modern amenities for its time. The property has remained in the same family for the entirety of its almost 60-year existence—until now.
