The Clinton Hill home where Christopher Wallace (a.k.a. the Notorious B.I.G) grew up in with his mother is now available to rent for $4,000 a month. Note, the 1920 prewar unit is no longer the same "one-room shack" with "no heat" that the late rapper once described in his hits.

Recently remodeled, the light-filled kitchen features stainless-steel appliances, black-and-white tiled flooring, as well as plenty of storage.

Located on the third floor of 226 St. James Place in Brooklyn's Clinton Hill neighborhood, the historic apartment was recently treated to a top-down renovation, and now features three bedrooms, one bath, as well as an additional office/den space.

Crisp, white molding in the dining room complements the richly textured hardwood floors.

"It’s a beautiful home and a fantastic neighborhood, filled with little shops and great transportation," says Compass broker Fabienne Lecole. "The apartment is a historical gem."

An abundance of natural light effortlessly brightens the home's spacious living room.

The Biggie home last sold in 2013 for $825,000 to the current owner, who is now renting the property. After the 972-square-foot apartment's recent remodel, it still maintains details from when the late rapper lived there, including the same windows and moldings.

An additional office/den is located right off the living room.

While no pets are allowed in the unit, the building features a common roof deck, a laundry room, garden, bike storage, and a barbecue area.

Gorgeous refinished hardwoods line the apartment, including into the two bedrooms.

Throughout recent years, the Clinton Hill neighborhood has dramatically transformed due to gentrification. To pay tribute to the legendary artist, as well as to the area’s storied past, Brooklyn officials announced that the corner of Saint James Place and Fulton Street—which is located just down the block from the apartment—will be renamed Christopher Wallace Way.

A peek at the second bedroom. Despite its small size, the space feels larger thanks to the home's high ceilings.

226 Saint James Place, Unit 3L is currently listed to rent for $4,000 per month by Fabienne Lecole and Grant Fodiman of Compass.
