From October 3 through January 14, Los Angeles's premier designer antique resource, JF Chen will open its doors to the public for "Collecting Eames, the JF Chen Collection," an exhibition and book launch in cooperation with Eames Design and as part of the "Pacific Standard Time" series of art shows. JF Chen will kick off the event on Sunday, October 2 with a private preview sponsored by 1st Dibs, Herman Miller, and Nike.
JF Chen has amassed an impressive collection of work from entire Southern California design lions Charles and Ray Eames. On display: over 425 pieces of Eames objects spanning the entire chronology of their production, including an actual pavilion designed by Charles and Ray Eames, erected in the showroom, other rare Eames objects like a transistor radio and every style of Eames chairs made by Herman Miller. The iconic mid-century modern chairs will be arranged in an undulating timeline from 1939 through 1996.
In conjunction with the exhibit, JF Chen and Eames Design are publishing a hardbound monograph "Collecting Eames, The JF Chen Collection," due out in October.
Show hours are Monday through Friday 10am to 5pm, Saturday 12 to 5pm, and closed on Sunday.
