Construction Diary: It Took a Decade, But Their Experimental, DIY Home Was Worth the Wait

The rebuilt Idea House, designed by Holly Freres and David Horning of JHL design. The driveway is permeable to encourage good drainage; it’s made of crushed granite gravel set over a stabilization mat. The James Hardie exterior siding is painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove, and the entry and garage are clad in wood reclaimed from the existing home.
