After almost 30 years, legendary actress Glenn Close is bidding adieu to New York’s Bedford Hills with the sale of Beanfield, her dreamy farmhouse home located just an hour from the heart of Manhattan. Set on 10 idyllic acres, the property hits the market less than a year after the estate hosted the wedding of Close’s daughter, Annie Starke, who grew up in the home.

Set on a 10.8-acre property surrounded by country estates, Beanfield lies secluded within a beautiful setting of old-growth trees, stone walls, open meadows, and stellar plantings.

Originally built in 1910, the updated farmhouse is the epitome of countryside chic. Norwalk–based architectural firm Shope Reno Wharton skillfully renovated and expanded the property to 5,773 square feet and worked together with local builder Bob Holland and his son, master carpenter Chris, to blend period-appropriate craftsmanship and old-world details with modern conveniences.

Entertaining is also at the heart of the home redesign, starting with the spacious porch that welcomes guests up the steps and into the center entrance hall with hand-painted floors.

Located to the left of the entrance is the library, which includes a fireplace, built-ins, and two doors that open up to the dining room.

The dining room's warm color scheme was inspired by the Lilla Hytnnas dining room by Swedish artist Carl Larsson.

Large rooms and a thoughtful floor plan accommodate grand gatherings, yet are still appropriately scaled for everyday living. Wide moldings, thoughtful detailing, and custom built-ins throughout also give the home architectural interest.

The family room is anchored with a fireplace on one side and a breakfast table on the other. Two glazed doors to the rear deck flank the large window seat.

The kitchen, which is open to the family room, is fitted out with a Viking Professional Range with two ovens, six burners and a griddle, a Sub Zero fridge, a compactor, a GE microwave, and a Miele dishwasher.

Clad in clapboard siding, the two-story main house features four bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths.

The spacious master bedroom includes a window seat, extensive build-ins, walk-in closets, and a fireplace.

Located off of the master bedroom is an office known as the "Boat Room" with a wet bar and fridge. A door leads out to the sun porch.

Large windows flood the interiors with natural light and frame views of the landscape. Outdoor living spaces also reinforce the home’s connection with the outdoors.

The master bath features a whirlpool tub, two sinks, a water closet with bidet, two sinks, and a steam shower.

Additional living spaces can be found in the numerous outbuildings on the grounds, which include a children’s playhouse with a loft bedroom, a two-bedroom guest cottage, and a converted barn office area.

On the left, the two-story guest cottage is fronted by a screen porch with a view of the meadow. On the right is the old barn building that's been repurposed into a garage with an office.

The cottage features a Great Room with a seating area with a fireplace, dining area, and kitchen. Also on the first floor is a bedroom and bathroom. A loft bedroom with window seat is located upstairs.
