PETER SPELLMAN ARCHITECTURE (PSA) is a full-service, green building design focused, firm based in Santa Cruz, CA. Our work centers on sustainable design solutions for single and multi-family residences, live-work lofts and commercial projects. The office is involved in a variety of complimentary services including: development strategies, master-planning, interiors/furniture design and prefabrication. Our projects range in scale from the smallest remodel to technically complex commercial and multi-unit residential developments.

The late architect David Boone was always one to take his work home with him—–he just kept it in the home’s office. The new residents of his 1972 house embrace a more fluid approach to the live/work divide. David C. Boone, FAIA, was a partner with Boone/Low Architects and Planners for many years. From 1976-1986, he practiced architecture, land planning and real estate development in Contra Costa County. His work included the Bear Ridge and Monte Ridge developments. These projects included more than 35 environmentally sensitive single family homes and lots on 80 acres of oak-covered hillside land. For this body of work, he was awarded the prestigious AIA Fellowship (FAIA). Boone passed away on November 26, 2009.

Gone are the harsh lines and glaring surfaces that have long characterized the workplace. Coalesse has replaced them with softened, contoured shapes that represent the new sensibilities of the modern way we work. We partner with brands like Carl Hansen & Søn (Denmark), Walter Knoll AG & Co. (Germany), and Viccarbe (Spain) to offer a growing collection of products for live/work environments. Coalesse also brings together the rich design histories of three brands from the Steelcase family of companies – Brayton, Metro and Vecta – as part of the new Coalesse brand.
