This modern Christmas wreath proclaims the joy of the season while keeping the greenery minimal by using eucalyptus instead of the more traditional pine or holly greens. The twine lends a rustic backdrop for the letters.

Anything goes! Sling away! Here's the purple guy with an orange one I made over the holidays. I tossed my knitting in there (it worked because those skeins are pretty hefty), but you could just as easily stash a notepad, incoming/outgoing mail, magazines.... you name it. Have fun!

Designer Matt Gagnon (and his pal, Gorman) plan on making 40 Prototype lamps in the window at The Future Perfect this weekend, using an established system that can, ultimately, result in "endlessly variable" incarnations. Gagnon selected a variety of materials—surgical wire, cotton twine, etc.—that he'll wind around different shapes (you can see two examples on either side of this pic). He hopes to have five that he likes enough to put into production by the end of the process.

The Copenhague Series from HAY was designed in collaboration with Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for the new buildings at the University of Copenhagen. The series includes furniture for dormitory rooms, classrooms, and common spaces, and is characterized by its functionality and warmth. The Copenhague Desk has a distinctive silhouette—the tabletop appears to fold out of the trestle style legs, which gives the desk a sense of mobility and lightness despite its sturdy nature. The backrest of the desk similarly appears to fold out from the legs, and provides a functional rest for books and notepads, as well as a visually interesting detail.

Joaquim Tenreiro Armchairs

Among the slew of talented mid-century Brazilian furniture makers, Joaquim Tenreiro had a knack for surprise in his forms, articulating everything from screens to sofas to chairs carved from a single block of wood. With Oscar Niemeyer as a main client, Tenreiro was able to see his work gain recognition before he stopped production in the late 1960s to focus on painting and sculpture, for which he is also known. The circa 1948 white chairs have a black iron frame, a twine back, and loose leather cushions. Contact

Organize your bookshelf. Rearrange volumes by author, by genre, or any way you’d like—just not by color, please.

Test out all your pens and markers. That feeling when you go to write something down and wind up dragging a dry pen across a notepad? Never again. Throw them out.

Rearrange your living room. You bought that sectional for its flexibility, so give it a go. Flip the whole room over. Change your life.

Mend your clothes. Darn socks. Sew buttons back on. Adjust the length of a skirt, or give your old jeans a new look with a raw hem.
