One-Family Custom Housing: Olson Kundig Architects created this home in Washington's remote Methow Valley as four structures oriented around a central courtyard, each positioned to best enjoy the surrounding vistas in all four seasons.

Last year’s winner in the bar/lounge category was Upstairs @ Ace Hotel, designed by Killefer Flammang Architects and Commune Design.

Bo Nuage, designed by J. Marx Atelier & BASE Planning and Engineering, took top honors in the cafe/bar category.

One of the three pavilions is an open, single-story space that combined the home's kitchen and great room. The Bigelows specifically liked the idea of a great room because it affords a flexible plan and airy atmosphere for entertaining. One-Family Custom Housing: The five Marlboro Music cottages at Vermont's Marlboro College provide residential space for musicians. The understated design by HGA Architects and Engineers references the history of Cape Cod architecture, while indigenous materials and small scale help the houses blend in with the surrounding landscape.

Bestia, by Studio Unltd and Osvaldo Maiozzi, was one of three winners in the restaurant category.

Multifamily Living: David Baker Architects transformed a disused motel into a green home for 73 formerly homeless families and children aging out of foster care in San Francisco's Bayview neighborhood. The building features ample community space and details designed by local artisans.

One-Family Custom Housing: When these homeowners traded Chiacgo for a return to rural life in Tennessee, the architects at Applied Research created a family home that celebrates the landscape, sustainable agrarian practices, and comfortable indoor-outdoor living.

Multifamily Living: The North Parker, an affordable housing project by Jonathan Segal, FAIA, in San Diego consists of 27 units set above four commercial spaces and an outdoor community gathering area.

Multifamily Living: Kevin Daly Architects designed this 33-unit affordable housing complex in Santa Monica, California, with sustainable features including a green roof and windows with hoods that were shaped based on solar orientation studies.

Specialized Housing: The John C. Anderson Apartments in Philadelphia's Washington Square West neighborhood was created by WRT, LLC, in partnership with the nonprofit DMH as a 56-unit affordable and LGBT-friendly senior housing development.

One-Family Custom Housing: Joeb Moore & Partners created Bridge House in Kent, Connecticut, with references to the geological features of its site and echos of the historic covered bridges common in the area in the home's form and materials.

Specialized Housing: The first facility of its kind in Washington, D.C., La Casa, designed by Studio Twenty Seven Architecture/Leo A Day, will provide permanent supportive housing for 40 men.

The Aia poufs are a comfortable lounge piece that can be grouped in a cluster for additional floor seating.

While the windows are larger than what one would find in a traditional Cape Cod structure, they were essential in establishing a connection with the forest.

Thanks to the extra space, the clients were able to bring their baby grand piano out of storage. It now sits in the main room, overhung by Mega Bulb pendants from Great Dane.

Architecture: The Shard, LondonRenzo Piano’s London skyscraper is currently the tallest building in Western Europe at over one thousand feet high.

As Wright’s first L.A. project, the iconic Hollyhock House was built between 1919 and 1921 and was filled with challenges from beginning to end. Enter Aline Barnsdall, the wealthy oil heiress and arts patron who held the dream of having a live-in venue to produce her own avant-garde plays. Wright wanted to create a design that would be defined by the region and that took advantage of Southern California's temperate climate. To do this, each interior space is echoed with an exterior space in the form of pergolas, porches, outdoor sleeping quarters, glass doors, and rooftop terraces that look out to the Hollywood Hills and the Los Angeles Basin.
