Fontspotting is a flashcard game you can download for free that tests your knowledge of typeface recognition. Created by designers Dustin de Souza and Jessica Witt for their own typographic memory testing, they decided to share it with the rest of us word geeks.

A couple enlist Butler Armsden Architects and Leverone Design to reimagine their home as a multigenerational meeting point. In 1963, landscape designer Lawrence Halprin devised a master plan for a community that would live in harmony with the natural environment. The resulting Sea Ranch, which stretches 10 miles along the Pacific coastline in Sonoma County, California, is characterized by timber-frame, wood-clad structures that are in dialogue with the local climate and terrain. Sited on a bluff within this pioneering community is the vacation home of a lawyer couple. After purchasing the residence in 2007, they lived in the home as it was for four years, even keeping the previous owners’ furniture. Envisioning a retreat that would accommodate their extended family and guests, they then recruited Butler Armsden Architects and Leverone Design to help guide the project.

AKIKO PENTAQUE BOCCE GAME SET A beautifully designed version of the classic lawn game, bocce, the Akiko Petanque set includes a set of six chrome bocce balls and a teak box for storing and carrying the game. The box has a hinged cover with a rectangular cut out, so the teak handle can be used when the box is closed. A collaboration between Danish designer Hans Thyge and Japanese designer Akiko Kuwahata, this set can be used to play, or can be set on a bookcase or table as a distinctive display piece.

Modeled after the Swiss Railway Clock designed by Hans Hilfiker in 1944, the watch captures the clock’s classic red second hand, along with its subtle twist. The red hand sweeps a full circle in 58 seconds—instead of the typical 60 seconds—and pauses for two seconds at 12 o’clock so the black minute hand can advance.

A show-stopper at this year’s Dwell on Design, the Iconic Architecture Card Game is a set of cards that features the greatest modern architectural icons separated into seven groups including events, house, tower, culture, religion, housing, and museum. Including 44 black and white cards, the game spans architecture all over the world that have been carefully selected because of their diversity, architectural aspects, technical details, and cultural value.
