The Active House sits on a sloping plot on the outskirts of Aarhus, Denmark, with views to the south over the sea.

Located in Aarhus, Denmark, Villa R is a minimalist, serene structure clad in zinc panels. "The objective was to create a house that brings the forest inside through large glass panels—and create an ever-changing seasonal backdrop for the interior living spaces," stated the architecture firm, C.F. Møller, of the 3,200-square-foot abode.

C.F. Møller Architects implements an abundance of brick in an homage to another of their projects, the elegant Aarhus University.

Scandinavian architecture firm C.F. Møller designed a serene, zinc-clad home in Aarhus, Denmark. On the interior, a large, three-sided fireplace incorporated into a floating wall helps connect two spaces and warm up the home, and the wall also incorporates a purpose-designed niche filled with firewood for easy re-stoking.

Inspired by the rocky hillside where the cabin is situated, Aarhus designed a rock climbing wall in the hallway that accesses the bedrooms on the cabin’s lowest level.

The 750-square-foot cabin that architect Jon Danielsen Aarhus designed in Son, Norway, is situated on a sloping hillside of solid rock that overlooks the sea.

When Rob and Mary Lubera started pulling threads to uncover the origins of their new home—the lone midcentury house amid rows of Tudor Revivals in suburban Detroit—not even architecture scholars could have anticipated what they would find. Theirs is the last surviving residence by Alexander Girard (1907–1993), a modernist visionary who made his name in textiles but tried his hand at virtually everything, architecture included. The shoji-like laminate screens, seen in the entryway, are characteristic of his Japanese-influenced work.

"Your Rainbow Panorama," Olafur Eliasson, 2006-2011. Eliasson's team created a 360-degree walkway above the ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum in Denmark, which provides panoramic views of the surrounding city, filtered through colored glass that forms a rainbow loop.
